Biographical notes

The ARIA Quartet was founded in 1994 and has earned a position as one of the leading Swiss string quartets. The musicians Thomas Füri, Adelina Oprean, Ettore Causa and Conradin Brotbek are filled with the desire to extend their rich experience as soloists, chamber musicians and teachers in this most demanding form of chamber music. International activities have lead the group to the Berliner Festwochen and to tours of China and Romania.

The ARIA Quartet feels close to the rich traditional quartet repertoire as well as to contemporary works. Swiss composer Alfred Zimmerlin has dedicated his first string quartet in 2002 to the ARIA Quartet, it has been recorded on CD for ECM label. On four Cds they recorded for the label NOVALIS, between 1996 and 1999, different works by Schubert and Swiss composer Willy Burkhard.

The four musicians love to cooperate with internationally known pianists, string players, wind players, singers in quintets, sextets etc. In their repertoire is for example the magic octet of George Enescu!
